Hawaii’s Tax Fresh Start Program
The State of Hawaii Department of Taxation (“DOTAX”) announced that it is offering a “Tax Fresh Start Program”, running from May 27, 2009 through June 26, 2009. The program provides an opportunity for eligible taxpayers to pay their back taxes to the state while avoiding penalties and potentially avoiding referral for criminal prosecution. 2009, taxpayers will find it easier to complete the General Excise (GE) periodic tax return

Hawaii Taxes Year End Workshop Schedules
HONOLULU—The Hawaii Department of Taxation’s Year-End Workshops for 2008 will begin on
Kaua`i on Monday, November 24. Workshops on Maui and O`ahu, and in Kona and

IRS Seeking to Pay Hawaii Taxpayers $1.2 Million in Stimulis Payments
The IRS reported Thursday that over 2,000 economic stimulus checks totaling $1.2 million dollars in economic stimulus checks are due to Hawaii taxpayers. They also stated that over $900,000 of tax refund checks were returned by the US Postal Service with address errors.
The deadline for taxpayers to update their addresses is Nov. 28.
